General
what are pigment prints?
All of my work is produced with archival pigment inks on Hahnemuhle Fine Art papers. Depending on the image it’s usually Photo Rag or Photo Rag Baryta paper. The difference between pigment inks and the more common dye-based inks is durability and longevity. Pigment inks are comprised of tiny specks of color that are trapped in liquid whereas dye inks are comprised of water-soluble colorants. Dye inks can be smudged and easily damaged by liquids and sunlight, whereas pigment inks are lightfast, produce strong blacks, and bind tightly to paper. My prints will endure long after I do.
what is a limited edition?
Each image is limited to a certain number of prints in a specific size. Once a run sells out, that’s it. This is done for two reasons: 1) This is a very personal exercise for me, it’s just me. Anything you receive from me is photographed, processed, printed, packaged, and shipped by me. Producing large runs is not only out of the scope of my capabilities, but it’s outside of the spirit of this endeavor. 2) I want to honor the collectors. Many artists go their whole lives without ever selling a single piece of work. If you buy something from me to put on your wall, I want it to mean something to you and others.
do the prints come framed?
They do not, this is partly tied to point #1 from the above.
maintaining The artwork
These prints will last a lifetime if you follow two simple rules: 1) Use high quality archival matting materials and UV-coated glass when framing. 2) Avoid hanging the work in wet or humid environments.
